Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies has a minus $700,000 weekend

Monday, 6 September 2010

Finnish online superstar Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies is one of our favourite players at Bluff Towers for his ridiculous rants, drunken escapades and the fact that he can win and lose millions in a day and still go out to party. That’s our kind of Scandinavian fella.

As well known as he is for his poker abilities he is also known for his epic swings. On Friday he took on Cole “cts” South for just over an hour. In those 337 hands South won $519,000 from Sahamies but the results are deceptive. Ziigmund was leading the match by over $150,000 at the 200-hand mark before South caught a huge run of cards to wind up over half a million ahead. Ziigmund is known for his tilting…

The next day, South’s former colleague at CardRunners Brian Hastings won over $244,000 in less than 700 hands meaning Ilari is now down over three-quarters of a million dollars in the past two days. As much as that’s a regular swing and part of the game, it’s gotta sting.
