High-Stakes Cash: Hansen big winner of the week

Tuesday, 28 April 2009

Seven figures this way, seven figures that way. It’s all chump change to these guys as more money traded hands at Full Tilt than in an average day on Wall Street last week.

One man whom we’re sure many of you have guessed was involved, was. Tom “durrrr” Dwan was, as per, playing the highest available stakes at No-Limit Hold ‘em, Pot-Limit Omaha or any mixture of the two.

However, very much not as per (despite his much-publicised downswing, the guy is still a winner) he was losing. To be precise, he dropped about $1.1m in one day, mostly playing PLO against the Great Dane, Gus Hansen.
Hansen was by far the hugest winner of the week despite an initial bad spell, ending up in the black for a little over $2,000,000 after his hot streak that saw him net $1.9m in a single day.

His winnings stemmed not only from durrrr but also from Dang Bro Urindanger, who lost $883k in a disastrous session. In one hand, he and Hansen created a $129,796 pot on the flop of a 8h-Qs-9h board. Hansen held AJ98 with a backdoor flush draw whereas Urindanger flipped A864 for bottom pair and the nut flush draw. Gus was a 2-1 favourite and boated on the river to take it down.

Another man who had a bad week was Phil Galfond, aka OMGClayAiken. He found himself $1.4m down after a succession of poor results.
