Gus Hansen loses $600k as Ivey takes on Griffin

Thursday, 29 April 2010

A lot went on at the high stakes tables on Full Tilt over the weekend – we’ve told you about Tom Dwan taking on jungleman12 but the day after that everyone wanted a piece of the action – Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Ashton Griffin and Brian Townsend all managed to win or lose six figures on Sunday.

Ivey and Griffin was the main showdown of the day – Griffin was the guy who stepped up to the plate and after just 191 hands he stepped down almost $400,000 lighter after losing the day’s largest pot; a 360BB top set vs wrap draw Omaha archetype.

Gus Hansen made the biggest impact on his bankroll, though unfortunately it wasn’t a positive one. He lost $586,000 largely thanks due to a rare appearance at the $500/$1,000 PLO tables where he is not often heard of.

Patrik Antonius had good results in the 7-game to contribute to a $400,000 weekend and Brian Townsend came out of the woodwork to win just over $100,000.
