Gus Hansen down over $1,500,000 for August

Tuesday, 17 August 2010

People often wonder where Gus Hansen’s money comes from. We can assure you that a stake in Full Tilt Poker, numerous business deals in online poker previously and being one of the world’s best backgammon gamblers (plus a reputed huge edge against the bookies on tennis majors) overrides the high stakes poker losses the Great Dane suffers online.

This holds true even though Hansen has dropped over $1,500,000 since August 1, taking his lifetime online total to over $7,000,000 in the red. Last year, Hansen began with a roaring start and quickly accumulating $3,000,000 profit. By the end of 2009 he had lost over $5.5m. He had a great start to 2010 as well so will be hoping it doesn’t end the same way.

Hansen is well-known for his loose play and wild swings so this is relatively normal for him especially considering how few hands he plays. Then again, he did win a reputed €2,000,000 at the EPT Grand Final Monte Carlo, abandoning the €25,000 High Roller event to take on a rich Russian backgammon player.
