Gus Hansen beats Daniel “jungleman12” Cates twice in a row

Tuesday, 1 February 2011

Gus Hansen is never scared to play against tough opposition, which is why his online results are so deceptive – he’s essentially that eighth-best player in the world continually taking on the other seven. However, sometimes he prevails and in the past week he has won over $500,000 from Daniel “jungleman12” Cates.

Cates could not be more the opposite of Hansen – the 20-year-old heads-up specialist is considered the best in the world and was the largest online winner of 2010, polar to Hansen’s losing year for 2010. However, they sat down at the $500/$1,000 CAP PLO tables and Hansen took home a nice $330,000 profit.

The previous day, Hansen had played jungleman12 at the same game and netted another six-figure score, meaning he has taken Cates for over $500,000 in the past two days. Perhaps 2011 is the year in which Hansen’s online luck will turn?
