Gus Hansen Strikes Back; Wins $321,000

Thursday, 17 September 2009

The Great Dane was recently reported to have suffered losses in August to the tune of $3,000,000 at Pot-Limit Omaha and No-Limit Hold ‘em. Yesterday he clocked a $321,000 win at $200/$400 PLO against CardRunners instructors Cole “CTS” South and Brian “Stinger88” Hastings, which might take the sting off a little. Maybe.

The largest pot of the day was at the expense of CTS, who made it $1,200 pre-flop with KJ53. The two checked through a 74K flop before getting their stacks in for a $110,000 pot on the J turn. South had top two pair and a gutshot straight draw while Hansen had 6442 for a flopped set, which held to take down the dollars.

South made up for this loss by winning the largest pot of Wednesday, a $157,000 affair versus French former Full Tilt pro David Benyamine. In a raised pot playing 200BBs deep, Benyamine check-called South’s bet on a JJ2 flop. The 9 turn saw a check-raise from Benyamine that South called, and the rest of the chips went in on the Q river.

David showed 9975 for a boat, but the CardRunners instructor flipped up QJT5 for a larger full house and the winning hand.
