FTOPS XVII final day – three players earn over $400,000

Tuesday, 17 August 2010

Despite the fact that the $600 Main Event of FTOPS XVII didn’t meet the guarantee and Full Tilt lost out on some of the $40 rake from each player, the climax of the seventeenth FTOPS series saw three players log off with over $400,000 more than they logged in with.

The FTOPS Main Event guaranteed $3,000,000 but fell just shy of the target when 4,805 players meant that Full Tilt had to add in $117,000 or so from the collective rake. However, this still meant a huge first prize of over $500,000. In the end it turned out that the top two players earned over $400,000 apiece after a heads-up deal when eventual winner TyboVegas was a chip underdog. The full placings and payouts were as follows:

1. TyboVegas - $423,057.41
2. DQnk - $446,942.59
3. flagal43 - $255,000
4. roo7227 - $192,000
5. Ship_the_dollar - $143,850
6. jfiiue4 - $99,000
7. einstein007 - $64,500
8. angrywhale - $45,000
9. Jeremy "JBurleson" Burleson - $31,500

Old school online poker legend Prahlad “Spirit Rock” Friedman missed out narrowly on a final table spot in Event #29, perhaps the online player’s favourite, a $2,100 6-max NL tournament with antes throughout. The prize pool was guaranteed at $2,000,000 and the field was just six players short of the guarantee. In the end McLean “PureProfitFour” Karr took home $417,000 for his win.

The final table placings and payouts were as follows:
1. McLean "PureProfitFour" Karr - $417,000
2. IReadYrSoul - $278,000
3. Shawn "buck99" Buchanan - $198,000
4. JaEs SiK - $148,000
5. Kaninschen - $106,000
6. squeezeboxx - $68,000
