Eugene Katchalov Ships a WCOOP Bracelet and $24,588

Monday, 10 September 2012

Eugene Katchalov has been on an amazing live tournament run these last couple of years, including the 2011 PCA Super High Roller win for $1.5 million and a WSOP Stud Hi bracelet. Now it seems that good run has extended online, as the Ukrainian has taken down a WCOOP bracelet in another Stud discipline.

Katchalov came 2nd in last year's $10k 8-game (which is still to come in this year's WCOOP) for $140k and 3rd in the 2012 SCOOP $2100 Triple Stud for $20,400. So this is his first real major title online.

Katchalov wasn't the only PokerStars Pro at the final table either, with WSOP Main Event Pius Heinz coming in a respectable 3rd place for $13,100. Other notables were Shaun Deeb who finished in 14th place and Jason "Taknapotin" Somerville in 10th place.

For this year's WCOOP Katchalov is involved in an intricate prop bet with fellow Pro and housemate Bertrand “Elky" Grospellier which could see the loser cycling from Nice to EPT San Remo, learning the other’s language, running a marathon or doing 1,000 press-ups in 12 hours. With this latest title he is surely a favourite to win and Elky a favourite to be doing the forfeits!

The Final Payouts:
1. Eugene Katchalov (Ukraine) - $24,588.70
2. trollringen (Norway) - $17,685
3. Pius Heinz (Austria) - $13,100
4. lennart (Sweden) - $9.825
5. Gjeddekongen (Norway) - $6,550
6. LadyDoDo91 (Switzerland) - $4,585
7. TkalexV (Russia) - $2,947.50
8. joeyspanne88 (Costa Rica) - $1,965
