Durrrr takes Ziigmund for $1m

Wednesday, 11 March 2009

Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and Tom “durrrr” Dwan played an epic session of heads-up Pot-Limit Omaha last week, which ended very badly for our cover star. After the session Dwan wound up over one million in the black, with Ziigmund reeling from another seven-figure loss.

Perhaps wanting to relax after this cool score, Ivey and durrrr proceeded to take a leaf out of Ziigmund’s book with a couple of $400,000 flips on the durrrr deep heads-up PLO table. In the first, durrrr’s 7s-8d-Td-Qd went up against Ivey’s 6c-2h-Ts-Tc. Ivey’s tens held up on a ragged board to win the $400k.

In the next hand durrrr held a similar 7c-8s-9s-Qs and Ivey had 4s-9s-Tc-Kd. Ivey paired his king and faded a turned flush draw to take the second lot of $400k. Easy when you know how.

Ivey has been somewhat out of the news recently but he got back on form at the beginning of last week, up nearly $400k in 24hrs playing Mixed HA and NLHE. The full lists of winners and losers from both games in that period provided by High Stakes Database is as follows:
