Cole South loses $1,000,000 at Full Tilt’s PLO tables

Wednesday, 3 March 2010

Lady Luck is a fickle mistress. Not 24 hours after blogging about his 2010 earnings – in excess of $3,500,000 at the time – CardRunners instructor Cole “CTS” South has lost $1,004,046 in a disastrous session of $300/$600 Pot-Limit Omaha.

The money was leaked evenly into the High Stakes community – while Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and Tom “durrrr” Dwan were the main beneficiaries of South’s ill fortune, taking over $500,000 each, they in turn lost some which means that nine players all made six-figure scores last night.

Despite this loss, South is still the second-highest earner of 2010 thus far, surpassed only by PostFlopAction who took $330,000 last night to take him to $2.8m in winnings. South is on just over $2.5m.

Tom “durrrr” Dwan is truly on the comeback trail as he now has over $1m in net profits this year. Ziigmund boasts a modest $500,000 – we’re joking, of course that’s awesome.

The biggest pot South lost came about against Sahamies – at $300/$600 PLO, South called a 3-bet when playing heads-up against the Finn. He called Ziigmund’s $11,400 bet on the Kd-3c-2s flop before raising a $35,000 second barrel to $130,000 on a Qs turn.

Ilari called and showed As-Qh-Js-4h for the nut flush draw, two gutshot straight draws and second pair. South had Kc-7c-5c-3s for two pair, making him about a 2/1 favourite on the turn.

However, Lady Luck cares not for all-in EV and placed the 8s on the river, giving Ziigmund the nuts and a $290,000 pot.
