Cole South brutalises Ziigmund for $787,000

Friday, 26 February 2010

Cole South, instructor extraordinaire at CardRunners, has proved his mettle after beating Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies out of a huge sum over 320 hands of $300/$600 PLO.

Despite Ziigmund being renowned as one of the best Pot-Limit Omaha players in the world, the high and brutal variance of the four-card game emerged when South ran like Usain Bolt on speed to earn a total profit of $2,459 per hand - that's over 200BB/100. Ouch, Ziigy. Very ouch.

The last quarter of the session accounted for over $400,000 of Ziigmund's losses so he may have been tilting. I know, we were surprised too, he's not the type, is he? Try writing that with a straight face.

Their largest pot was $136,000 and it showed the extent of Ilari's blowup as he revealed a trash hand with less than 2-1 equity in the pot when the money went in.
