A week-end on PokerStars

Tuesday, 28 April 2009

Yesterday was the last Sunday of the month. You should know what that means at PokerStars – not only is the Sunday Million (well, one-point-five-million) running with a seven-figure prize pool but the Sunday Warm-Up, $200k, Battle of the Planets Triple Shootout and Turbo Takedown are all running at once. Sick action!

In the big one, 7,594 players signed up to compete for a $1,518,800 prize pool with a six-figure first place. Over 1,000 players made the money and after several hours of play a final table of nine was created with strip23 and antesvante dominating the table as the only players with 10m+ stacks.

The chip counts at the start of the final table were as follows:
Seat 1: strip23 (14,592,445 in chips)
Seat 2: igoturchips4 (7,322,496 in chips)
Seat 3: chinchati (5,985,984 in chips)
Seat 4: maxpudim (7,237,043 in chips)
Seat 5: raulbcn (9,921,496 in chips)
Seat 6: flex212derde (6,252,513 in chips)
Seat 7: antesvante (15,820,000 in chips)
Seat 8: Schlede18xD (3,547,582 in chips)
Seat 9: alphalogos (5,260,441 in chips)

Despite some huge swings in his stack, antesvante made it to the chip lead three-handed and the remaining players negotiated the following deal after failed talks earlier:
Seat 1: strip23 (24,275,206 in chips) = $160,644.17
Seat 4: maxpudim (13,239,240 in chips) = $142,850.31
Seat 7: antesvante (38,425,554 in chips) = $183,459.50

Eventually antesvante held a 1.5-1 chip advantage heading into heads-up play. The chip lead traded hands rapidly before an all-in coinflip saw antesvante’s QJ beat strip23’s 66 to take down a huge $213,459.50 prize.
PrettayGood then took down $12,000 for his victory in the Battle of the Planets Triple Shootout and JUSTFRIENDSF won a cool $90k for a triumph in the Turbo Takedown.
