Warming up for the WCOOP

Warming up for the WCOOP

Thursday, 27 August 2009

The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker commences next week and oooooooh isn’t it exciting! Yes, after the FTOPS managed to attract mammoth fields - generating hundreds and thousands of dollars for each event’s prizepool - the WCOOP is looking to follow suit and also smash their own guarantee of over $40 million.

But who will win the bracelets this year? Will we see some familiar names prevailing?

At the FTOPS we saw a good performance by the pros with Kevil Saul winning an FTOPS jersey and Andy Bloch finishing agonizingly close to getting one too.

Also coming close to an FTOPS jersey was Chris ‘MoormanI’ Moorman who, despite making a heads-up deal, was unable to take the event down. (He plays under moorman1 on Stars)

With a fifth place finish in the recent FTOPS Main Event James ‘TheFatFish’ Obst came very close to the ‘big one’ but nevertheless further cemented his tournament prowess. He will undoubtedly be looking to build on his impressive record that saw him take down the PL Omaha [1R1A] Event in the 2008 WCOOP under his Stars alias Andy McLEOD last year. The guy is only 19!

As for myself, well…I know everyone is interested in my chances. And lets just say that there are some surprises in store. I might have failed to cash in all three of the FTOPS Events I played in but…I am certainly due a goal.
