Ziigmund loses a bet to land a new tattoo

Poker players, eh? If they’re not betting six figures on the flip of a coin or a round of golf, they’re betting it on sports. If they have no money on them, it’s not a problem – the loser simply has to get a tattoo.

Such was the case with high stakes online pro Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, who found himself going under the inky needle after a bet at an ice hockey match didn’t go in his favour.

Ice hockey is the most popular sport in Ilari’s native Finland, and when Ziigy was in attendance at the HIFK vs JYP match, one of his friends – a JYP fan while Ilari follows HIFK – bet the Full Tilt Poker regular that whichever team lost would be tattooed on the respective fan.

A tense score of 3-3 was broken by a last-minute point from JYP – 3-4 to them, 0-1 to Ziigmund. He soon found himself with a brand new piece of art, permanently etched into his skin.

“It's cool," he says. "I've been a fan since I was 9 years old so I don't mind at all."
