Yu's The Daddy

Yu's The Daddy

It's not often that someone can turn $500 into $220,000 after a couple of days work but Sean Yu has managed just that.

The biotech salesman topped a massive 3,599 runner field to claim the maiden WPT500 Aria event. The top five percent of the field from six opening flights resumed battle yesterday and after a marathon session it was Yu who had claimed the lion's share of the cash.

Yu, who was in Vegas with his friend, NFL star Richard Sherman, worked his way through a final table that included such notables as Christian Harder and Scott Clements to set up a heads up clash with Kareem Marshall.

Dawn was approaching by the time Yu finally sealed the deal. Marshall moved in on a 10c-8s-7c board with AdKd and was way behind Yu's Td7d. The turn and river were bricks to give the Californian by far his biggest career score.

“It feels amazing,” Yu told Bluff.com. “It was amazing with the players here.”

In addition to the first prize money, Yu also earned a package to the WPT500 at Dusk Dill Dawn in Nottingham which takes place from 11-16 November.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1. Sean Yu  -  $260,000
2. Kareem Marshall  -  $180,000
3. Scott Clements  -  $120,500
4. Christian Harder  -  $90,000
5. Jeffrey Ray  -  $70,000
6. Luis Nargentino  -  $55,000
7. Brian Benhamou  -  $45,000
8. Terry Fleischer  -  $35,000
9. Messadek Soufiane  -  $26,000
