Youngster uses dad's credit card to rack up online poker losses

Friday, 8 June 2012

Poker has hit the pages of the mainstream media this week and unfortunately, it's not to champion British success at this year's WSOP. Metro reports that a 12-year-old boy has managed to rack up debts of £7,000 on his dad's credit card playing poker.

Youngster Declan Hind was successful playing a free money poker app and once given access to his dad's credit card (to buy his mum a birthday gift) he signed up for a real money site. Needless to say, he didn't enjoy quite as much success as in the virtual games and ended up racking up debts of £7,000.

Declan's dad eventually cottoned on to what was happening when his credit card stopped working. He told the paper, “I was really livid, but I was also shocked. It was so easy for him to do it.”

Father and son will now be visiting schools to raise awareness about underage gambling in a project called Prevention Town.
