Professional poker players including members of ‘The Hendon Mob’, Andy Black and Roy ‘The Boy’ Brindley watched on helplessly as a young amateur walked away with €150,000 from the Boylepoker.com Irish Poker Championships in Dublin.
In what was a forgettable tournament for the pros, the first three places were taken out by local amateurs to the tune of €150,000, €70,000 and €30,000 respectively. Barney Boatman, the only pro to make it through to the final table, walked away with 4th prize and €18,000.
Over 3,000 people took part in the boylepoker.com Irish Poker Championships making it Ireland’s biggest ever poker tournament. Professional player, Andy Black said, “It was a brilliantly run tournament, which was clearly as a result of all the effort Boylesports have put in over the past few months. All their hard work has paid off.”
Paul Magee of Boylepoker.com said, ‘The tournament has been so successful and is now the biggest poker tournament in Ireland and one of the biggest in Europe. We are already looking forward to next year.”
