World Team Poker starts tomorrow

Tuesday, 18 May 2010

Attention may be focused on South Africa for the forthcoming football World Cup but there's also a team event in the poker world taking place tomorrow.

40 players from eight countries will be battling it out at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas tomorrow for the right to be crowned World Team Poker champions. A host of big names are set to play including team captains Phil Hellmuth, Jr. (Team USA), co-captains Johnny Chan and David Chiu (Team China), Men “The Master” Nguyen (Team Vietnam), Eli Elezra (Team Israel), co-captains Jeff Lisandro and Tony Guoga (Australia), Juliano Maesano (Team Brazil), George Kapalas (Team Greece) and Ben Roberts (Team England).

Joining Ben Roberts in the England line up are Joe Beevers, Peter Costa, Ram Vaswani, James Akenhead, Surinder Sunar and Dave Ulliott in a very old school looking team.

Players will compete in five table shootouts comprising rounds of limit hold ’em, pot-limit Omaha and no-limit hold ’em. You can watch the action live at http://www.worldteampoker.com/
