World Series of Poker Europe final table begins today

Tuesday, 28 September 2010

It’s been a long haul at the WSOPE for journalists, TV crews, tournament directors and players alike. Today is the final day of the event but with a 60BB average stack and hundreds of thousands of pounds (ie: millions of dollars) on the line we don’t expect it to end any time soon. Jack Effel just announced a twenty hour stint is – forgive the pun – on the cards.

Roland de Wolfe is by far the most well-known player at the final table and will be looking to add the WSOPE to the list of tournaments he has won, which includes the WSOP, EPT and WPT. He is in fourth place in the chip counts but doesn’t carry all of the UK’s hopes as Londoner James Bord is also well stacked in third place.

Victory Poker CEO Dan Fleyshman claims to play poker as more of a hobby than anything – we wish our hobbies were this lucrative. His $100,000 in tournament earnings have been at least doubled by this final table and it’s more than $1.3m for first place. He is the chip leader by a decent but by no means decisive margin.

We’re kicking off in but a minute or two with blinds at 10,000/20,000 and a 3,000 ante. Blind levels are ninety minutes apiece so be prepared for a long journey to the bracelet. Here’s how the players line up:

Seat 1: Roland de Wolfe (1,377,000)
Seat 2: Marc Inizan (349,000)
Seat 3: Nicolas Levi (428,000)
Seat 4: Fabrizio Baldassari (697,000)
Seat 5: Brian Powell (842,000)
Seat 6: Danny Steinberg (1,520,000)
Seat 7: James Bord (1,331,000)
Seat 8: Ronald Lee (1,899,000)
Seat 9: Dan Fleyshman (1,946,000)
