World Series of Poker Circuit schedule announced.

Monday, 19 July 2010

Scarcely 24 hours have passed since Brandon Stevens was sent home from the World Series of Poker Main Event in tenth place out of over seven thousand entrants to set a November Nine final table. However, those who can’t wait the four months until November to follow poker tournament news will be pleased to hear that the World Series of Poker Circuit schedule for 2010/11 has been confirmed.

This season there will be twelve stops on the circuit, kicking off in Iowa (Horseshoe Casino, Council Bluffs) on August 19 and continuing throughout the year. In addition, there are several changes being made to this run of the WSOP-C which WSOP Vice-President Ty Stewart explains the reasoning behind lowered buy-ins and a new rankings system:

“We recognized the WSOP Circuit Events needed a shot in the arm, and we believe we’ve responded with steroids,” WSOP Vice President Ty Stewart said. “The new model is exactly what the WSOP is all about, giving poker players of all bankrolls the chance for compete for the kind of fame, fortune and respect that comes only with a WSOP bracelet and a national television audience.”

This year each event will see players accrue rankings points throughout the new, $1,500 Main Events and regional championships and heading towards a national tournament for the top 100 ranked players. In addition, there will be four regional championships with a buy-in of $10,000 to compete.
