World Poker Tour announces new event in Malta

The tenth season of the World Poker Tour (WPT) will be adding a stop in Malta with a €3,300 Main Event taking place from September 20 until September 24 in Portomaso.

"Portomaso in Malta is normally the home of super yachts but for four days in late-September it will be home to the WPT Malta," said Adam Pliska, President of the WPT.


"This Mediterranean hotspot already has poker in its veins so we hope that, by introducing a WPT stop, we will satisfy the desires of locals and the international contingent looking for some late-summer sun."


Matt Savage will be directing the tournament and satellites to the Main Event will be running from September 17. The Main Event will be four days and capped at 300 players.
