World Poker Tour announces new European events

The World Poker Tour has announced that in addition to Venice and Marrakech they will also be holding events in Barcelona and Northern Cyprus this year. Casino Barcelona will host the €5,000+300 buy in WPT Spanish Championship from 24th to 30th June 2009. 253 players battled for a prize pool of almost $2million in last year’s event which was eventually won by Casper Hansen.
The action then heads to Northern Cyprus for a $10,000+$300 event at the Merit Hotel from 6th to 12 September.
The European leg of the 2009 Tour kicks off with the inaugural WPT Venice at the Casino Di Venezia from 6th to 10th May. This year will also see the first major poker event held on African soil with the WPT Marrakech scheduled for October.
