WPT Enterprises announced this week that it will not be filming the Grand Prix de Paris at the Aviation Club de France on May 6th to 11, as it had intended.
WPT released a statement that “Due to gaming regulations in France, we did not receive assurances in the time needed to proceed with filming the event. We continue to work with Parisian officials to obtain permission to film at the Aviation Club at a later date.”
The club released a letter saying that the decision not to allow the cameras in to shoot the 'Grand Prix de Paris' was received with “sadness and bitterness.”
The French government had already ruled that sponsored players were not to display their company’s brands, as only local gaming monopolies are able to advertise.
Despite this set-back, from today Unibet will be running online qualifiers for the France Poker Tour, the grand final of which will take place in Monte Carlo.
