World Poker Tour London Classic Day 2 completed

World Poker Tour London Classic Day 2 completed

Thursday, 2 September 2010

Today the 39 remaining players in the World Poker Tour London Classic will reconvene to play down to a final table. In total, 171 players entered to create a prize pool of over £800,000 and a first place prize of nearly a quarter of a million pounds.

All eyes were on Full Tilt pros Phil Ivey and Erik Seidel as Day 2 resumed; both players held prime spots in the chip counts but neither could make it to the end of the day. Loudmouthed Brit Luke “__FullFlush1__” Schwarz occupied the pole position in the chip counts until late into level twelve when William Martin got all his money in with QQ against Schwarz's KK. A flopped queen doubled Martin to over 275,000 while Schwarz dropped below the six-figure mark.

Chip leader as Day 3 begins is online qualifier Giovanni Safina, who bagged up 508,800 by the end of the day; he is closely followed by Tonio Roeder who holds over 420,000. Michael Greco, Richard Ashby and Huck Seed are all still in contention in the last 39 players.

The top five chip counts are as follows:
1. Giovanni Safina (508,800)
2. Tonio Roeder (424,200)
3. Talal Shakerchi (357,900)
4. Bruce Atkinson (344,600)
5. Philip Patrick (333,500)
