World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Stars Day 2 complete

Thursday, 17 March 2011

The 415-strong field at the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Stars bounty event has been narrowed down to a field of just 24 with the trademark Matt Savage tournament structure meaning that despite almost 400 bustouts in three days we have a 55 big blind average stack heading into Day 3.

The Shooting Stars are almost all eliminated and the various $5,000 bounties collected with just Mike Matusow, Mike Sexton and Kathy Liebert remaining in the field with trophies on their heads. Joris Springael leads the field on 1.477m with Vivek Rajkumar, LAPC runner-up, in third place on just over a million chips.

The final six will be playing for at least $148,000 with the winner of the event taking home $1,039,000; one of the biggest first prizes awarded at the Bay 101 tournament. Currently every player remaining in contention has pocketed at least $25,800 along with any bounties they may have picked up.

Other famous names in the field include former November Niner Kevin MacPhee, PCA 2011 champion Galen Hall and Danny Nguyen, worthy of mention only because his last name is Nguyen and that basically guarantees him a podium finish.

The leading chip counts are as follows:
1. Joris Springael - 1,477,000
2. Alan Sternberg - 1,106,000
3. Vivek Rajkumar - 1,076,000
4. Casey McCarrel - 874,000
5. Brian Schmidt - 842,000
6. Andrew Weisner - 755,000
