The World Poker Association (WPA) has secured a prominent booth at the World Series of Poker in order to promote its message of professionalism and high ethical conduct in tournament poker. The non-profit organisation brings amateurs, professionals and casino employees together in an umbrella community aimed at insuring integrity at every game.
Formed in November 2005, the WPA gives members a voice, and a vote, in the future of poker, increasing its legitimacy through integrity. Members are encouraged to open discussion groups on topics including:
- ethics and conduct,
- annual conference
- international
- dealer relations
- rules, and
- government relations.
- charities
As the WPA takes its profile to a new level at the WSOP, lobbying group Poker Players Alliance has seen its membership reach nearly half a million. PPA President Michael Bolcerek attributes this to a membership structure that includes runs through five levels from free up to $1,000 Distinguished Membership.
The new Chairman, former Republican Senator, Alfonse D’Amato and Michael Bolcerek have been busy on Capitol Hill, and the gloom of October, when online gambling was outlawed, has shifted to optimism.
