Information Technology consultant Laurence “Wolfman” Wolf devoured the field in the final event of the Borgata Winter Open in Atlantic City to take down the first prize in the $500 No Limit Hold Em event.
Wolf beat 430 players to pocket a cool $63,275 and an engraved Tag Hauer watch in Event 13 of the festival of poker.
“It took a while for it to sink in, but I am extremely pleased to have won the first major tournament in which I made the money” said Wolf. “A few things did run through my mind. One was how I came from 2,500 in chips to 1.2 million – I felt that was some comeback. Another was that almost all of my strong hands held, and I won all of my all-in up or out plays, even if it looked bad before the river.”
“I plan to spend 90 percent of it on wine, women and whisky. The rest I suppose I’ll just waste. Just kidding,” he joked later.
Following his win, The Wolfman may be making a few more appearances at the poker tables.
