William Reynolds wins PCA High Roller event

William Reynolds is better off to the tune of $526,240 after being crowned PokerStars Caribbean Adventure High Roller champion. The youngster from Sioux City, Iowa sealed the victory, beating fellow Will, Will Molson heads up.

Reynolds’ victory showed just how important perseverance is for a poker player. It wasn't quite chip and a chair territory but at one stage the 21-year-old’s stack dipped below the 6,000 mark and as play neared the bubble he was often scrapping for his tournament life, surviving a number of all in confrontations. A timely double up gave him some much needed ammunition though and he carried that momentum through the nine-hour final table.

Runner-up Will Molson is no stranger to the business end of PCA High Roller events. The Canadian finished behind Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier in last year’s $25,000 buy-in event and unfortunately for the high stakes cash game specialist, history repeated itself. The chips eventually went in with Molson shoving his K8 and Reynolds calling with A10. The board provided no help to Molson who was the bridesmaid once again. He did have a nice consolation prize of $322,075 though.

Speaking after the event the delighted winner said, "It was the most roller coaster of a ride I've ever been on," Reynolds said. "It looked like I was going to be the final table bubble. On day one, I was down to 5,800 chips. From there I won a race and it was all up from there."

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 William Reynolds (USA) -- $576,240
2 Will Molson (Canada) -- $322,075
3 Adolfo Vaeza (Uruguay) -- $218,150
4 Michiel Brummelhuis (Netherlands) -- $154,350
5 Lisa Hamilton (USA) -- $133,770
6 Tobias Reinkemeier (Germany) -- $108,045
7 Matt Marafioti (Canada) -- $87,465
8 Dmitry Stelmak (Russia) -- $66,885
