Walid Bou-Habib tops Day 1B chip counts at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure

Monday, 10 January 2011

The first day of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is complete. While that means that Day 1B chip leader Walid Bou-Habib has a better than average chance of boosting his tournament cashes; it also means that the final numbers and payouts have been finalised. We know you’re more interested in that.

This year’s winner will beat Harrison Gimbel’s $2.2m score from 2010, pocketing $2.3m if they can make it past the 232-seat money bubble and to the final table. All eight finalists will be guaranteed at least $202,000 with the top four finishers becoming millionaires – if they aren’t already.

The record-breaking 1,560-player field beat the 2010 record by just 31 players to create a prize pool of over $15,000,000. With Day 1b done and dusted, 383 survivors join the 280 remaining from Day 1a to play out the rest of the tournament throughout the week. Notable Day 1b survivors include Tommy Vedes (2nd), Chris Moneymaker (3rd), Daniel Alaei (7th) and newly-revealed Viktor “Isildur1” Blom (12th).

Flying the flag for the UK is Adam Gabor, the highest-placed UK player with 201,700 in chips, good for sixth place in the Day 1b counts. Praz Bansi, Jude Ainsworth also made it into the top twenty along with Team Sky Poker pro Redmond 'LOLufold' Lee and WCOOP and WPT champion Yevgeniy Timoshenko.
