Waheed Ashraf wins Dusk Till Dawn Monte Carlo Millions

Tuesday, 22 December 2009

There were smiling faces dotted all round Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham over the weekend after a very successful Monte Carlo Millions brought the 2009 UK high stakes poker year to a close. There were fears that the club could lose money in the £250,000 guaranteed event after some big overlays in a number of satellite events.

Happily, 300 players, including big names Dave Colclough, Jeff Kimber, Stuart Rutter, Surinder Sunar and Karl Mahrenholz, bought in for £1,000, easily overtaking the guaranteed quarter of a million.

In the end it was local favourite Waheed Ashraf who emerged victorious. After a deal was agreed with four players remaining, Canadian qualifier Paul Ratchford arranged another split with Ashraf. The local player took an extra £10,000 with Ratchford taking an extra £8,000 back across the Atlantic.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Waheed Ashraf £68,000
2 Paul Ratchford £53,000
3 Ashique Miah £29,000
4 Yucel Eminoglu £50,000
5 Stephen Eames £17,190
6 Dean Pearson £12,893
7 Chris Saleh £10,028
8 Malcolm Muskett £7,163
9 Craig Mccorkell £5,730
