After 43 hands of heads up play, Jonathan Duhamel is crowned our new World Champion and picks up $8,944,310. His opponent John Racener fought valiantly but a 6:1 chip defecit going into heads up play proved to be too much. He takes home $5,545,955 by way of consolation.
On the final hand Duhamel shoved all in with A-J; Racener, now too short to pass, made the call with K-8 of diamonds. Two diamonds on the flop threw Ravener a lifeline, but it was not to be. Jonathan Duhamel becomes the first ever Canadian Main Event Champion.
