WSOPE Main Event - 347 entrants in total.

Friday, 24 September 2010

With the commencement of the 150/300 level on Day 1b of the WSOPE Main Event comes the end of registration. The official count being touted is 347 players, which is less than the 362-strong fields of 2007/8 but 14 more players than Barry Shulman outlasted in 2009.

The first prize is just under a quarter of the prize pool, or at least it has been in the past three years. This means we can guess at a top cash of about £835,00 – the calculator actually says £836,103. This translates to $1.32m or so for our Yankee friends, but the real prize is the bracelet.

Speaking of bracelets, Gus Hansen and Jim Collopy are yet to battle the final match over the Heads Up High Roller title. Hansen and Collopy are both still playing in the Main Event which means that the schedule will have to be adjusted for Event 4 in order to accommodate the players. Hansen was last spotted in the break convincing staff to allow a young Swede named Viktor Blom to register. Looks like he was successful; he is in Robert Mizrachi’s vacated seat.

So, with still more than 200 players left in the field there’s some reporting to be done. Let’s get to it.
