Viktor "Isildur1" Blom leads into Day 3 of WSOPE Main Event

Well, that was a bloody good day. We began with one of the toughest fields that tournament poker has ever seen. I'd take the over on 100 WSOP bracelets in the room when 195 players began the day.

Now that number is reduced dramatically but each of the surviving players wants to add another or a first WSOPE title to their repertoire. The man who stole the show today, though, has none. In fact, this is only his second WSOPE and he isn't old enough to go to Vegas. Yet.

Viktor Blom became (in)famous in the online poker world last year. He was already known as Blom90, a super-aggressive heads-up phenomenon who took a $2,000 deposit to $1.5m in less than two months. Then Isildur1 won and lost $5.5m at Full Tilt Poker... you know the rest.

He took the chip lead with commanding force midway through the day. Phil Ivey was the first to break the 300k barrier when he took down the largest pot of the tournament so far but Blom one-upped him by bluffing his way to more than 400,000 and touching half a million at his highest point.

We'll bring you a full report and chip counts when we can but for now know that Viktor "Isildur1" Blom is leading the remaining players into Day 3. Tomorrow they will play through the money bubble (36 paid at least £21,106) to 27 players.
