Main Event level 2 - Grinder takes a hit; Romanello gets coolered; heads-up almost ready

The action is still coming in fast, as it is likely to do for the next six days. More familiar faces are popping up to make no table safe as Brandon Cantu, Brent Roberts and others have joined us across The Empire. Meanwhile, the heads-up tables are being prepared upstairs so that Gus Hansen and Ram Vaswani can take on Andrew Feldman and Jim Collopy.

Toby Lewis, this month’s Bluff Europe co-cover star, is at the Juanda/Kessler/Ferguson table but is taking the tough line-up in stride having boosted his stack to more than 38,000. Juanda himself is still slipping with a stack barely over five figures now. Last we looked, Vanessa Selbst was still hanging on with her scant few chips.

Andy Bloch and Barney Boatman are sharing a table; the latter is around even while the former has donned shades in place of his trademark Stetson but still has barely 15,000 to his name. Arnaud Mattern on the same table has a tower of chips that must top 40,000.

The rule that a November Nine spot bids good karma for the WSOPE (see Demidov, Akenhead, Saout) is being contended by Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi who ran top two pair into a set and crippled himself to less than 20,000.
