Hoyt Corkins busts from WSOPE in 15th place

Monday, 27 September 2010

Hoyt Corkins won’t be adding another bracelet to his collection – the big-hatted Alabama cowboy moved all his chips into the middle whilst in a late position raise-off with Italian player Fabrizio Baldarassari; the American held A-Q and was in trouble against K-K.

Despite making top pair on the board Corkins couldn’t outdraw his opponent and leaves in fifteenth place with a £42,454 cheque in his pocket. This leaves us with fourteen players in contention at the WSOPE including British pros Roland de Wolfe and Barny Boatman as well as online high stakes cash player Andrew Pantling, who has already made a final table in this WSOPE.

Brian Powell can also breathe a little easier after doubling up through Daniel Steinberg, whose A-T couldn’t get the best of Q-Q and moved up to 300,000 or so. He’s got a long way to go before he can catch chip leader Dan Fleyshman or any of the other three players with more than a million in chips – James Bord, Ronald Lee and now after the Corkins hand Fabrizio Baldarassi.
