Gus Hansen wins Heads Up High Roller

Gus Hansen wins Heads Up High Roller

Sunday, 26 September 2010

The list of best players never to have won a bracelet has been reduced once more. The name of Gus Hansen like Phil Laak can be scrubbed from that list after the Dane claimed his first WSOP title.

The three-time WPT winner returned for his truncated Heads Up High Roller final against Jim Collopy and staged a come from behind victory to seal the title. With the blinds at 20k/40k Hansen raised to 91,000 from the button. Collopy announced reraise and shoved in all 1.2m of his chips. After giving it some thought the Dane announced call, his pocket 4s in good shape against Collopy's K4s.

Hansen faded the remaining kings and the flush to pocket a first prize of £288,409 (relative peanuts for someone used to Full Tilt's high stakes games) and the all important bracelet.

Well played sir.
