Entrants and prize pool officially confirmed.

Friday, 24 September 2010

As players approach the halfway point of level six of Day 1b the official total for players and prizes has been confirmed. The 'official' count has been 347 since the second break but Nolan Dalla informed us that might be high.

He was right, by one player. Overall, 346 entrants have stumped up the £10,300 which creates a prize pool of £3,460,000 - about £100,000 more than the total for last year but still £200,000 shy of the 2007 and 2008 record £3.62m.

The first prize is still hardly to be sniffed at though - a cool £830,401 is to be awarded to the winner along with a coveted WSOPE bracelet. In total, 36 players will make the money with the minimum payout set at £21,150.

Still leading the field as far as we can tell is Antonio Esfandiari, who obviously feels he must one-up Phil Laak after The Unabomber took down Event 1, the £2,650 NLHE 6-max. Viktor Blom took a hit after being bluffed out of a pot (taste of his own medicine, really) and is down to around 60k. Phil Ivey has chips now - you can see them on Twitter.
