Brian Powell crippled with 15 left in WSOPE

Brian Powell crippled with 15 left in WSOPE

Monday, 27 September 2010

It took two hands for Brian Powell to go from 675,000 to less than 200,000 with Victory Poker CEO Dan Fleyshman and Marc Inizan reaping the rewards. Inizan doubled through Powell when the two got it in before the flop for Inizan’s last 220,000 or so – Powell was in great shape with A-K versus A-J... that is, until the dealer laid out a J-J-2-5-8 board to double Inizan to more than 500,000.

A few hands later, Powell called Fleyshman’s early position raise and saw a Qc-4c-4d flop, calling a further 55,000 flop bet and a 100,000 bet on the 5s turn. On the river, completing the Q-4-4-5-A board, Fleyshman asked how much Powell had behind. Upon finding out the answer was 325,000 he bet 110,000 and Powell went deep into the tank.

Eventually he called but mucked when Fleyshman showed A-4 for a full house. Powell has been knocked down to just 200,000 and Fleyshman is our chip leader with almost a fifth of the 10,030,000 chips in play.

At this juncture I'd like to apologise for the fairly infrequent updates, but the feature table area is strictly off limits to everyone except players and it's very difficult to see the ins and outs of hands.
