I just witnessed the biggest pot of the tournament so far and, unfortunately for EPT runner-up and Bluff’s October cover man Marc Goodwin, it was at his expense.
Timoshenko and Goodwin both called a 6,000 raise from under the gun and 4 players took to a flop of As 9h 4h. It was checked round to Goodwin on the button who raised to 15,500. The two other players got out the way and Timoshenko, cool as ever, check-raises to 40,000. Goodwin calls and the turn brings a 5c. Timoshenko leads out for 45,000 and again Goodwin flat calls. The river then brings a 4c and, although it was hard to hear, Timoshenko must have announced all-in because Mark Goodwin was all of a sudden left umming and arrgghing over his tournament life. ‘And there I was thinking i was the one trapping you’ he said as he deliberated the call. Eventually he called and Timoshenko tabled 99 for the full house. Goodwin then mucked and murmured ‘nice hand’ as he gathered his jacket. That pot has sky-rocketed Timoshenko into a comanding chip lead with 640,000. His nearest rival is Ian Munns with 456,000.
