WSOPE Players on Break; Jason Mercier Leads the 134

Saturday, 26 September 2009

In between being amused by the PokerNews.com guys discussing the very un-American phenomenon of rugby (“those guys are crazy!”), the Bluff Europe team have also been diligently journalising (yes, that’s a word) at the ongoing Day 1a of the WSOPE Main Event.

Jason Mercier has moved into the chip lead with over 120,000 in chips with Sami “LarsLuzak” Kelopuro right behind him. Jonathan Aguiar is the third player to have broken the 100k barrier after hitting a straight flush against November Niner Steven Begleiter, who is now nowhere to be seen after hitting the rail as hard as possible.

Patrik Antonius has recently arrived, joining fellow Full Tilt pro Mike Matusow at an upstairs table – his stack is virtually untouched but given the Finn’s aggressive style of play he could take that figure anywhere between now and the day’s end.

The feared cash game pro completes a truly star-studded field that includes Phil Ivey, Joe Beevers, Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Allen Cunningham and many more – recently spotted is Tom “durrrr” Dwan, yawning more often than entering pots and doubtless thinking of how much easier it would be to multi-table $500/$1,000 games at home on his laptop.
