WSOPE Welcomes Women

The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) has added a new tournament to its 2013 roster in the form of a €1,100 ladies No Limit Hold’em event.

Having originally planned their schedule around a start date of October 12, the organisers have now decided to open their doors a day earlier and host the festival’s first ever female only event.

The inclusion of the ladies tournament takes the total number of bracelet events to eight which is one more than in previous years.

Commenting on the decision to mimic the main WSOP and offer a ladies event, Ty Stewart said, “We first offered a Ladies event at the Vegas WSOP in 1977, and felt it was the right time to add this tradition to WSOPE. We need to do more to promote ladies involvement with the game, and with the many breakout stars in the region, it feels like a women’s European championship is long overdue.”

This year’s WSOPE will take place inside France’s Casino Barriere between October 11 and October 25 and feature a host of events, including a €10,450 Main Event and €25,600 High Roller.
