Eastgate and Holden among leaders in $1.5k NLHE

Wednesday, 4 July 2012

While Antonio Esfandiari's win in the Big One for One Drop understandably dominated proceedings at the WSOP yesterday there were some interesting stories brewing elsewhere in the Rio, none more so than in the $1.5k NL Hold'em.

The starting field of 2,798 is down to just 22 and includes 2008 World Champion Peter Eastgate and last year's November Niner Sam Holden. Eastgate closed the day third in the ship counts on 1,043,000 behind just Gianluca Mattia on 1,271,000 and chip leader Donald Vogel on 1,297,000.

Holden is tucked in the middle of the leader board on 405,000. Other Brits to look out for are Paul Vas Nunes on 610,000 and Chris O'Donnell on 444,000. Irishman Mick Graydon is also still in the hunt on 427,000.

The survivors are guaranteed at least $18,924 with the winner set to walk away with $661,022.
