WSOP 2011 – Yevgeniy Timoshenko in last four of $1.5k NL

Friday, 1 July 2011

The third day of the $1,500 NL event – event #48 of the WSOP 2011 – has concluded but still four players remain to battle it out for a bracelet and $650,223. Only one notable name remains and he’s sitting second in chips – WPT Champion-slash-WCOOP-winner-slash-$25k NL HU runner-up Yevgeniy “JovialGent” Timoshenko.

Timoshenko, a tournament demon, has amassed results of over $3m in winnings online (boosted by a $1.8m WCOOP Main Event win in 2009) and won the WCOOP Main Event just months after taking down the $25,000 WPT Championship for a similarly seven-figure score. He opened the 2011 WSOP with a runner-up spot and over $500,000 in the $25,000 Heads-Up NL Championship event won by Jake Cody.

He is currently second in chips of the four remaining with just a couple of big blinds between him and chip leader (deep breath) Athanasios Polychronopoulos. Currently all four players are guaranteed $206,348 but the first prize is three times that – and it comes with a WSOP bracelet.
