WSOP 2011 – Jason Mercier leads $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw

Thursday, 30 June 2011

Some people accuse Jason Mercier of just getting lucky and catching cards. Well, he’s been dealt rags for the past two days in Event #49 and has still taken the chip lead heading into Day 3. It’s a lowball tournament, though, so rags are the nuts.

A field of 310 entered the $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw Limit event with just 13 remaining to head into Day 3. Mercier leads the way towards the first prize of $189,919 – not to mention his second bracelet of the 2011 WSOP – with an esteemed field chasing him. Justin Bonomo, David Bach, Eli Elezra (in second place), Scott Seiver, Shawn Buchanan and Galen Hall all made it through to Day 3 guaranteed a payout of at least $8,049 for their efforts thus far.

Mercier has a good chance of becoming the first double bracelet-winner at the WSOP 2011 after winning the $5,000 PLO 6-max event just last week, adding to his 2008 PLO title and taking his career tournament earnings further skywards.
