WSOP 2011 – Hellmuth, Seidel and Benyamine in $10k Stud 8

Monday, 20 June 2011

Another niche mixed game, another stellar field. After two days of play the 168-strong field for the Seven-Card Stud 8-or-Better Championship has been narrowed down to just 18 players, nearly in the money and all with their sights set on a bracelet.

Eric Rodawig leads the field with almost 700,000 in chips but in the 17 players behind him he faces tough competition. David Benyamine is his closest competitor with 448,000; Ali Eslami is in fourth place on 415,000; Joe Tehan is in sixth ahead of Phil Hellmuth, making another deep non-Hold ‘em run; John Racener and Ted Forrest just sneak into the top ten chips ahead of Phil Laak; Erick Seidel; Justin Smith; Cyndy Violette and yet another WSOP 2011 cash from Bill Chen.

All but two of the remaining players will receive at least $27,888 but for these guys you know it really is about the bracelet and not the money. The first prize of $442,183 is a nice incentive to be wearing that jewellery, though.
