WSOP 2011 – Gregory Brooks leads $5k PLO 6-max final 15

The surviving players from Day 1 of the $5,000 Omaha 6-max event were lead by Vanessa Selbst into Day 2; now that torch has been passed to Gregory Brooks after he eliminated Selbst in 18th place and takes the chip lead over the final 15 players into Day 3.

Brooks had bet/3-bet a flop of 6c-3c-3h against Selbst, who 4-bet the pot for her stack and received a call. She turned up A-A-Q-3 for trips with the best kicker, crushing Brooks’s K-K-9-3... until the turn, which was a nine of clubs to give Brooks threes full of nines and leave Selbst drawing to five outs, none of which materialised on the river.

That sent Brooks’s stack all the way to 1,294,000 and he is the only one of the 15 players to have crossed that million-chip milestone, holding almost 15% of the chips in play. He leads a stacked field of 15, though – Jared Bleznick, Michael “timex” McDonald, Jason Mercier and Peter Jetten are chasing the bracelet while UK hopes rest on Dave Ulliott and Chris Moorman; the former has an average stack while Moorman has some work to do on Day 3.
