WSOP 2011 – Day 1 of $1,500 NL 6-max attracts 1,920 players

Tuesday, 7 June 2011

After the opening day of the $1,500 NL 6-max bracelet event a field of 1,920 has been whittled down to 188, just eight places off the money as Day 2 begins tonight. Leading the way is Anthony Spinella who turned his 4,500 starting stack into 223,000 by the time players bagged up chips.

Tonight, 188 players come back for Day 2 with eight of them leaving empty-handed. The rest will be guaranteed a min-cash of $2,954 with the six players lucky enough to make the final table taking home at least $66,199 and the winner due to pocket $544,388.

As always in the big-field No Limit events, the list of names to hit the rail was a Who’s Who of poker in of itself – John Racener, Lex Veldhuis, Liv Boeree, Vanessa Selbst, Galen Hall, Tom Dwan, Antonio Esfandiari and Andy Black all left before the end of play.

Despite this, recognisable names in the field are aplenty – Eric Froelich, Matt Stout, Greg Mueller, Dan Fleyshman, Erica Schoenberg, Melanie Weisner, Tommy Vedes, Cliff Josephy and Scotty Nguyen will all be playing out Day 2 this evening.
