WSOP 2011 - Ben Lamb leads Main Event Day 1B

Saturday, 9 July 2011

What a month it has been for Ben Lamb. The American has already won the the $10k PLO Championship bracelet, was runner up in the $3k PLO event, made the final table of the Players' Championship and finished twelfth in the $10k Six-Max Championship and now holds the chip lead after the second opening day flight of the Main Event.

Currently second in the Player of the Year standing behind Phil Hellmuth, Lamb closed the day with a stack of 188,950, over 13,000 ahead of closest rivals Andrew Hinrichen, Edwin Kim and Javier Martinez.

As expected, plenty of big names chose Day 1B to make their Main Event bow with Carlos Mortensen, Maxim Lykov, John Duthie, Eugene Katchalov, Mike McDonald, Patrik Antonius and Dario Minieri among the 626 players making it through to Day 2.

Last year's November Niner Michael Mizrachi can book a winter holiday this year though after an early bust out. Joining him on the rail were the likes of Noah Schwartz, Justin Smith, Michael Tureniec and Erica Schoenberg.

Over 1,600 players have already registered for what promises to be an epic Day 1C. Join us tomorrow to see who's in and who's out.
