WSOP 2011 – $5,000 PL Omaha 8 event Day 1 concludes

Wednesday, 6 July 2011

The final event before Event #58 (the $10,000 No Limit Hold ‘em “Main Event” Championship, naturally) has begun with a field of 352 putting up $5,000 for the Pot Limit Omaha 8 event. After a fast and furious Day 1 (the game is so much better when it’s not fixed limit) just 189 remain.

Leading the way is Gary Bolden, who is touching the six-figure milestone with his stack of 93,800. He has stiff competition behind him though with Erik Seidel, Allen Kessler, Phil Laak and Dan Shak all sneaking into the top ten chip counts. Also chasing the chip lead are Joe Tehan, Alexandre Gomes and Max Pescatori.

Outside the top counts we still have a plethora of poker prowess – Mike Matusow, Huck Seed, David Sands, Nacho Barbero, Richard Ashby, Marco Traniello and John Monette. The winner will take home the bracelet and almost $400,000.
