WSOP 2011 – $1,000 NL event hits the money at the end of Day 1

Monday, 20 June 2011

Another huge field turned out for the thousand-dollar-donkament event with 3,144 players entering the cheapest event of the WSOP; at the end of Day 1 and ten levels of play we are left exactly in the money with 323 players remaining in contention.

Leading the now-profiting players into Day 2 is Christopher McClung who bagged up 114,100 by the end of play, just ahead of second place Luke Davies’s 109,300. They are joined at Day 2 by big names Dwyte Pilgrim, Matt Affleck and Barry Shulman.

We lost a lot of notable names during Day 1 as well – Humberto Brenes, Randy Lew, Michael Mizrachi, Jason Mercier, Erick Lindgren, Amarillo Slim, Kathy Liebert and David Williams were just a few of the more than 2,700 players to hit the rail on Day 1.

Tomorrow the field attempts to play down to a final table of nine, though we may not make it that far. Each player at the final table will have secured a $36,473 payday but the first prize and the bracelet is worth a nice $488,283.
